Accommodation at hotel. The tour starts visiting two fantastic borough of Cilentan coast: Agropoli and Castellabate. Firstly, excursion to the medieval centre of Agropoli to discover its alleys, churches and above all its ancient Castle located on a headland from where you can enjoy a fantastic scenery. Then, you can admire the picturesque village of CASTELLABATE and its historical centre declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2010. The city is also well known because it was the cinematographic set of “BENVENUTI AL SUD” (Welcome to the south), an Italian comedy film directed by Luca Miniero. After breakfast, the day is dedicated to explore the Amalfi coast once called “Divine Coast” for its marvels. First stop in Amalfi, where you can visit the impressive cathedral with its magnificent facade of striped arches at the top of 62 stairs. The cathedral is dedicated to the Apostle Saint Andrew and it consists of two part: the oldest that includes the old 9th century Basilica of the Crucifix and the newest – built next to the older basilica and on the ruins of a previous temple- that was remodeled several times by adding Romanesque, Byzantine, Gothic, and Baroque elements. In the afternoon, excursion to Ravello, the quiet and silent village that enchanted Greta Garbo and Wagner. Ravello is also recalled in a famous tale written by Boccaccio in his masterpiece “Decameron” that tells about the story of Landolo Rufolo, a noble citizen of Ravello for birth and who become a pirate for his own choice. The most important attractions in Ravello are the cathedral founded in XII century and the beautiful villas – Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone – with their enchanting gardens and “belvedere” to appreciate and take photos of the stunning panorama. A suggestive tangle of alleys in the city centre will enchant visitors making them dreaming of romantic walks and hidden stories to tell. In the evening, dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, departure for Salerno to reach the port in order to embark for Capri. Arrived in Capri – well-known also as the Blue Island for the vivid color of its sea- the guided tour starts by visiting the coolest and chic “piazzetta” (small square) and then the gardens of Augustus with their flowered terraces overlooking on one side the sea and the bay of “Marina Piccola” and on the other the rocky islets emerging from the blue sea called “Faraglioni”. An unforgettable day dedicated to enjoy the enchanted island with its natural landscapes overlooking the Mount Tiberio, its blue waters, its alleys and its secrets places such as Anacapri located in the highest place of the island. After breakfast, departure for Paestum – the ancient Greek city once called Poseidonia in honour of the god of Sea-where you can enjoy a guided tour in a local dairy farm to see how “Mozzarella DOP” (Buffalo Mozzarella cheese) is produced. At the end you can taste delicious and fresh products from the hands of the “CASARO” (cheesemaker). Then, excursion to the archeological site with its magnificent Greek Temples: beautiful vestiges of Magna Graecia. Later, a guided tour to the National Museum where you can visit its interesting rooms as the one of “TOMBA DEL TUFFATORE” (Tomb of the Diver ) -the first example of colored painting in the history of civilization.
